Getting Ready

Three weeks from today, I will be in San Fransico, the first leg of my trip. From there, I will fly to Tokyo on Monday.

Here is a picture from the hotel I will be staying at in Tokyo. It has a 10-acre garden surrounded by the outer moat of the historic Edo Castle! I will be at this hotel both at the beginning and at the end of my trip.

I might not want to leave the hotel. Hmm...I wonder is there is anything else interesting in Tokyo??

Making plans

I joined a forum for people going on this trip. A bunch of people are planning on going to Kyoto on Friday night before our free Saturday. It is a 2 hour or so bullet train ride, then we will spend the night and have most of the day to tour, before returning Sat. night so we can go to our host cities on Sunday morning. It sounds like an expensive and hectic day trip, but I can't see turning it down. How many times will I get to spend the day in Kyoto??

A bunch of people also want to get up early our first day there, since our internal clocks will be messed up anyway, and go to the big fish market in Tokyo. Sounds cool to me!

I also "met" a woman who is going to Unzen in my group who is a soccer fan, so we are going to try to take in a game at some point.

This is all starting to sound real!
