San Francisco

I'm in San Francisco today. I got up at 4:00 am, Michigan time, and it is now 9:41 California time, so 12:41 MI time. I’m pretty tired, but the first leg of the journey is over. I met a lot of really nice people today, starting with people who were on my flight from DTW. We met up with a lot more people in Chicago, and all flew to San Fran together. After attempting to check in (our rooms weren’t ready) we had an orientation meeting. The most impactful thing they told us is that we are the last group of JFMFers! The gov’t of Japan can’t afford to fund this anymore.
We finally got into our rooms and quickly cleaned up (I had actually changed my clothes in the lobby bathroom) and went to the Consulate General’s residence for a dinner reception. His residence is gorgeous, very French Provincial, I think. It overlooks the San Francisco Bay, and you can see the Golden Gate Bridge.
Now I have cleaned up and am crawling into bed shortly. I have to be checked out of here by 8:00 and catch a bus to the airport to fly to TOKYO!!!

I really want to visit San Francisco, my grandparents went to Hawaii and stopped there and toured Alcatraz. My sister also went to Japan, I don't really know why, but she got me one of those paper fans with the artwork on it. Hope you have a good time!
