This morning about 20 of us got up at 4:00 to go to the Tsukiji Fish Market. We had to go that early because that is when the restaurant owners go to bid on fresh fish for the day. My friend Lori and I got a cab, and had the bellboy tell the cab driver where we wanted to go. However, when the cab driver dropped us off, we had no idea where we were! There was nothing that looked like a market, and absolutely nothing was written in English! We wandered around for a little while, then we found some people who looked like they might speak English. Lori asked one of them if he knew where the fish market was, and he said he didn't, but he was looking for it, too. So between the five of us, we finally found it, and it was well worth it!
The market was bustling with men carrying HUGE fish around on carts, and buckets of litte fish on motorized carts. I'm pretty sure that if we hadn't gotten out of the way, we would have gotten our reet run over! The market reminded me of Eastern Market in Detroit, but times five, and all fish!
